Why We Do It
To sum it up in one word ... FREEDOM.
When Jesus came to this earth, he came with the mission to provide freedom to every person who would choose to accept it and accept him. The kind of freedom that he offers is the freedom from religion and the freedom of life. He isn't about rules and regulations and rituals, but wants to free us from the hang ups and burdens that we place upon ourselves. He wants to free us so that we can truly live and be really effective in making a difference in the world around us.
That is what we are about at FreedomRidge. Our goal is not to conform people into some cookie-cutter Christian, rather we simply desire to travel with each other on the journey of life as we become like Christ. When someone on this journey needs help we will help, when someone has questions we will learn truth together, when someone fails we will help pick up the broken pieces and bring hope & restoration. Our purpose, our mission, can be summed up this way: "love God, love people, change the world." Are you up to the challenge?
We are basing everything we do and everything we are on The Three Greats of the Bible. The Great Compassion is John 3:16 where it says "For God so loved the world that He sent His only Son so that whoever believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life."
The Great Commandment: “Jesus replied, `You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: `Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the other commandments and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.” (Matthew 22:37-40)
The Great Commission: “Jesus came and told his disciples, ‘I have been given complete authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age." (Matthew 28:18-20)
Enjoying freedom and providing freedom through the Great Compassion, Great Commandment, and the Great Commission is the foundation of all we are and do.
